Second October DMM Update on Postal Explorer

We update the DMM online each month, and occasionally we publish a second update to capture additional changes to mailing standards.

We made the following changes in a second October update, available today on Postal Explorer (pe.usps.com).

New Option for Periodicals Mailers
We added a new option for Periodicals mailers to create an additional bundle and sack. This option is offered to improve service for Periodicals without adding costs by processing some working (mixed ADC) flats with First-Class Mail for specified ZIP Codes around the office of entry. These ZIP Codes are identified in new labeling list L201.

Address Visibility on Bundles
Mailers preparing presort destination bundles must ensure the address information and any presort bundle label or optional endorsement line (OEL) on the top mailpiece of each bundle remain visible and readable by the naked eye. These new standards apply to bundles of Periodicals, Standard Mail, and Package Services mail intended for processing on Automated Package Processing System equipment.

Check the Summary of Changes for a complete listing of DMM updates since the January printing. You will find revisions listed by effective date and also by chapter, with clickable links to revised sections. Our next scheduled update is November 10.
