Waiver of Signature

Today the Federal Register published our proposal [HTML] | [PDF] for new waiver of signature standards for Express Mail and return receipt for merchandise, which we posted previously on Postal Explorer. The proposed standards allow delivery without first attempting to obtain a signature from the addressee when the waiver of signature option is selected. The sender agrees to accept a delivery time and date scan as a valid record of delivery.

We encourage mailers to review and comment before July 24, 2008.

Undeliverable Books and Sound Recordings

Today the Federal Register published our proposal [HTML] | [PDF] revising the mailing standards for the treatment of books and sound recordings that are found loose in the mail or are undeliverable as addressed. The proposed standards clarify and simplify our procedures.

We encourage mailers to review and comment before August 8, 2008.
